Class Party, Word De Jour, Partial Quotient, Spelling/Vocab test Friday
CLASS PARTY
Our class has earned enough points for a class party. After voting, the students chose a PJ/gaming party. Student will be allowed to wear PJ's to school on Friday at no cost. Please see the handbook for questions regarding dress code. The last 40 minutes of the day, the students will be allowed to play board games and the class Wii will be set up for the Wii Dance Party.
Questions?
Please email me: karaevans@visioncsd.org
WORD DE JOUR
This weeks word is ennui (on-wee). It is French in origin meaning lack of interest or boredom.
PARTIAL QUOTIENT
This is another math strategy that students will be adding to their math "tool belt". Below is a link to walk you through the steps to solve a division problem using Partial Quotient.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLrM1jBsSHo
The neat thing about Partial Quotient is that you do not need to have the "exact numbers" in order to solve the problem as you do in Standard Algorithm. You get to pick "friendly numbers" or numbers you are comfortable working with. Students that struggle with memorizing larger fact families or have difficulty remembering the steps to Long Division, find Partial Quotient easier to work with.
