Book Orders - How to . . . .
I send home a book order form home every few weeks. You should see an order form come home tonight in the Purple Home/School Folder. I prefer that book orders be placed on-line. Just click the Scholastic link on the right hand side of my blog. It has our class activation code that sends all books to my class. If you need to place a "paper order", make sure you pay by check or credit card. No cash is accepted. Our first order will need to be placed by Friday, September 5th. Happy Reading!

For the week of August 25th - 29th
Hello all!
Welcome to Mrs. Evans Fifth Grade Class. I know we are going to have an amazing year! The first week of school, I spend a lot of time building a community of learners and setting classroom procedures and expectations.
PARENTS
Monday night, your student will come home with the PURPLE HOME/SCHOOL FOLDER. This is our main form of daily communication. In this folder, you student should always have their agenda with the day's activities filled out. Anything written in the agenda is an assignment that we did during the day and needed to be participated in and/or turned in. As, a parent, you can simply pull out the agenda and ask if each activity was completed. The first week, I will not be assigning homework, but your student should still be bringing the PURPLE HOME/SCHOOL FOLDER home with their filled out agendas. I am trying to set up this to be routine. The folder must be brought back with the agenda everyday. This is a student job and they are paid class cash for this. Students with missing or late folders don't receive their daily pay check.
STUDENTS
Your job this week is to train yourself and your parents to look at your PURPLE HOME/SCHOOL FOLDER and filled out agenda each night. You need to be looking for work that needs to be completed at home and make sure all work is turned in on time. The homework policy as per the student hand book says this: Late 1 day = 25% off your score Late 2 days = 50% off your score Late 3 days = 75% off your score. Late 4 days = 0% The first few weeks of school, I am easy going on this policy because we are learning to be responsible. Starting the end of September, I follow this to the letter.
