For the week of February 23rd- 27th

This week in 5th Grade:

1.  Book projects (edited by an adult) are due by Midnight tonight.  Remember this is just the written portion of the book.  Pictures are being worked on in class.  Completed books are due Friday, March 13th.  I am sending them out that evening to be published.  NO LATE WORK will be excepted.  Please help your student understand the importance of a real deadline.  I have to ship the books in one order and in order to get the books back before school is out, I have to have them post marked by that evening.

2. Math and Science Test Retakes.  If a student is unhappy with any test score they are allowed to do a retake.  Math and Science tests will be retaken tomorrow during lunch and music.

3.  Mid-term Progress reports come out Wednesday.  The need to be signed by you saying you have seen it.  An email works just fine too.  If you have questions or concerns, please call, drop by or email.  There is still time to fix things.

4.  Reading Calendars for February are due the first week in March.  Put it on the calendar. . . .it is next week.

5.  State Research Paper is due Friday.  Please check your students work before they submit it on line.     Click the link for the requirements.  It is 1/4 of their history grade for this semester.

For the week of February 17th - 20th

Hello all!  Here are the happenings of this week.

There is no spelling test this week in lieu of the science and math test.

Science Test -  Wednesday, Feb. 18th
1.  This test covers just about all the material we have covered since the beginning of the year.  The students took notes today over the following concepts and are allowed to use these notes on the test.
Science Notes          Plant and Animal Cell Venn Diagram

We went over all of this today, but here are a few links to help your student answer these questions if they need further assistance.

Math Test - Friday, Feb. 20th
1.  This is also an open note test.  Students must be able to define math terms and give examples.
                                                      Math Terms to Know

Parent Book Edits - Due Friday, Feb. 20th
YES! Parents you have homework this week.  Please read over your student's book and make the necessary corrections.  It will be printed the way you edit it.  I am going to start printing books on Monday of next week.

History Research Paper - Due Friday, Feb 27th.

Cookie Dough is due to be delivered in about 3 to 3.5 weeks.  :)

Sunday, February 8, 2015

For the week of February 9th - 12th

Short Week this week . . . .

Here are a few due dates to mark on your home calendar.  Please also remember I will not be available for Friday's Parent Teacher Conferences.  I am still meeting with parents Monday through Wednesday after school this week.  Just email me for an appointment if you have questions or concerns regarding your students grades.

Wednesday, February 11th
Cookie dough orders due. This is the last day to turn in cookie orders and money.  Prizes will be paid out on Thursday.

Thursday, February 12th
1.  State Fair Research Worksheets are due for full credit. Click link below for State Fair Packets.  These were sent home with each student but if you never saw yours, here is a copy.
2.  We will be having a Valentine's Day party at the end of the day from 1:30 - 2:45.  Students are allowed to bring treats and Valentines. (If you are bringing treats, think semi-healthy.  That day is already "sugar-overload")  I already spoke to the students that if you bring Valentines, they need to be for everybody, not just your friends.  Valentine mailboxes aren't necessary, brown paper lunch bags work just fine.  If students want to decorate something fancy, that is fine too.
3.  Spelling Test words are listed at the end of this post.
