Another amazing week in 5th grade

Hello all!

Welcome you your weekly update of classroom and school happenings!  Here is what to expect this week:

  1. Book orders will be coming home this week.  If you can please order on-line from the blog.  It saves me a lot of time.  If you do order from the paper order, please remember checks only . .. cash orders will be returned.
  2. September Reading Calendars will also be coming home this week, if you wanted to get a "leg up" on reading minutes.  Remember, students should be reading at least 20 minutes a night.
  3. Be sure to be looking at your students Agenda and Home School Folders
  4. Our first spelling test will be in a few weeks.  I like to make sure my students know our class routine before adding on homework and studying.
  5. There are no more early release Wednesdays.  We go full days.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email, drop by or call  :0)

First Day of School/ Homework already!

Hello all!

I think today went over really well.  I, personally, enjoyed getting to know my new class.  As you are around the dinner table tonight and the question of the day presents itself, "What did you do today?", here are a few ideas to help jog your students memory.
1. Lockers
2. Agendas
3.  Banks and Jobs
4.  Hand signals
5.  Class cash and auctions

All the students had homework tonight.  They need to show you and explain their "home-school" folders and agendas.  Please sign the bottom of their agenda tonight and they earn class cash.

Side note:   Vision Charter is no longer doing "early release" Wednesdays.  Starting in September, we will move to an every other Friday off.  For more information please click the link below.

Welcome to Mrs. Evans Fifth Grade!

I am absolutely thrilled that you will be in my class this year!  This is going to be an exciting year with lots of new things to learn.  This is my 4th year at Vision but my 9th year teaching and I think I can infer that I love 5th grade!  It really is the best grade ever!  We get to learn some pretty cool things ranging from decimals and fractions all the way to how gravity works and how to debate.

I am very enthusiastic about teaching all subjects, though Science, Math and Art are my favorites.  I also enjoy using technology as much as I can.  In fact, you can take some time to explore my class blog to see how I use technology in my class.

I spend a lot of time throughout the year working to build our classroom community.  We spend a fair amount of time together so it is important to treat each other with respect, kindness and compassion.  I know each of you has a different brain, which translates to you all being different in your abilities to learn and grow.  It is my job as your teacher to help you become strong learners with good character.

Want to know a little about me?  When I am not at school, you can find me at the pool, swimming and coaching.  I also love traveling and cooking.  I often use my travel and cooking experiences as learning tools.  I grew up as the daughter of a scientist and moved all over the country.  I hope this helps explain my love of science and some of my strange accents or pronunciation of words.  Lol

I look forward to meeting you and your family at Vision’s Meet the Teacher night.  Bring your school supplies with you so you don’t have to carry everything on Wednesday morning.

See you all Tuesday Night from 3:30 -7pm in H-2.
