For the week of March 28th - April 1st

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break and is ready to hit the ground running.  Grab your day planners.  It is a busy week.  Also, be thinking about your science fair projects.  They will be due Thursday, May 5th.  Info will be coming home later this week and will be posted on the blog.

Field Trip Info

  1. Permission slips are being sent home today.  Please read over them, sign and return no later than this Thursday.  No slips = no trip.   
  2. The bus leaves at 8:30am.  
  3. Students need to bring a lunch, drinks, and weather appropriate gear.  (lunch is outside)  If your student orders hot lunch, a sack lunch has already been ordered for them. They will still need a water bottle.
  4. Students may bring a camera.
  5. Chaperons may NOT bring siblings and are responsible for their own transportation, as well as entry fees into the Aquarium.  It is $8.00.  
  6. We should arrive back to school right at 3:00pm

1:00 - 2:15 Aquarium Tour

For the week of March 14th - 18th

Wahoo!  It is the week before Spring Break and the end of 3rd quarter.  If you are curious where your students grades are sitting, please login to Parent Portal.  There is still 5 days to bring grades up.  Please remind your student that EVERY ASSIGNMENT COUNTS.

Monday, March 14th
New TenMarks Math Madness assignments  :)   These are done in class but your student is welcome to work on them at home too.  RAD tryouts are in the Gym from 3:20 - 4:45ish.  Students will need a ride home.  :)

Wednesday, March 16th
I extended the Scholastic book order date until today.  So shop away!


Friday, March 18th
We are done with Enrichment clubs so back to Extemporaneous Speaking!  We will also have Spelling Test #20.  In the afternoon, we will celebrate our class points party.  The class hasn't voted on which type of party we will have yet, so more info will come home later this week.

Busy, busy week . . .

There is a lot going on this week.  Grab your calendars :)

Story Book are due this week.  Please do not wait until Wednesday night to edit your student's book.  I have to have everything printed out and ready to ship by Thursday afternoon.

Monday, March 7th
TenMarks Math Madness Contest Starts!  For the next several weeks (March 7th - April 16th) There is a Math contest the class will be participating in.  The Grand Prize, which we are aiming to win, will earn each student in my class an Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet.  If you are interested in hearing more about the contest and helping promote working on math at home, click the link below.

Story books due and Cookie Dough pick up - 1 day only.  We have no where to store the cookie dough that is being delivered.  Please make sure to pick up your orders.

Science Field Trip Day.  The bus leaves school at 8:30ish.  Cooking class from 9:30-11:30 at Sur La Table in the Village.  Picnic lunch in the park behind the Village from 11:30 - 12:30.  Boise Aquarium from 1:00ish - 2:00 ish.  Back to school by 3:05.

Today's Math Lab . . .Fractions and Recipes



We have been playing with fractions since Christmas break.  Today, as a class, we altered a recipe, learned to measure and work cooperatively to make a tasty spiced popcorn.  Check out what we did below.
