For the week of February 18th-21st

Just as a reminder, we have several BIG deadlines approaching:
 1.  All pictures for our story books must be completed by this Friday.  The nice thing is, most of the work is being done in class!
 2.  Next Wednesday, Feb. 26th, your students research paper for their State Fair project must be done.  I am returning all the research worksheets tomorrow to your student to use as a guide for this paper.  I am also teaching several lessons on summarizing information and how to outline.  I hope this saves some struggles at home with writing a paper.
  3.  Please be editing your student's story for their book.  They cannot start printing out their final copies until you finish your edits.  Parent edits are due no later than Friday, Feb. 28th.

On a side note,  I just want to express my gratitude towards my parents and students.  You guys are wonderful and I am grateful for the support, the food and the little tokens of appreciation I have received throughout the year.   I apologize for not sending individual thank yous but please know I can't do what I do without your help and support.  Thank you for all you do!

For the week of February 10th-14th

This week is another busy, crazy week in 5th grade. . . .

Wednesday, February 12th
The famous author, Obert Skye, is coming to Vision Charter! His visit will take place from 9-10 am in the gym on Wednesday.  Mr. Skye sent each of my 5th graders bookmarks and posters, in addition to one free copy of the Pillagy Trilogy for my class.  I have been reading the first book "Pillage" out loud to the class.  For more information about Obert Skye and his books,  please visit the following link:

Thursday, February 13th
Tutoring will take place from 3-4 pm on Thursday.  This week's session is all about multiplication and using the array.
Please have your student bring a snack and be able to pick them up promptly at 4.

Friday, February 14th
1.  We will have our spelling test as usual.
2.  State Fair Research Worksheets are due Friday and must be completed in their entirety to receive full credit. I will make copies of each student's worksheets and return the original back to the student so they can begin their research papers and display boards.
3.  The Valentine's Day Party will begin right at 1:40.  Students may bring treats to share.  If they choose to bring Valentines, it needs to be for the entire class, no picking and choosing who to give them out to.
