For the week of December 7th - 10th

Hello all!  We have 2 weeks of school before Christmas Break.  Remember this week is a short week so no school on Friday.  There are a few dates to remember, so grab your calendars:

Tuesday, December 8th - Last weeks Spelling Test.  Yes,  that is correct.  Friday came and went with out a spelling test so I moved it to Tuesday of this week.  Please be sure to study with your student.

Wednesday, December 9th - November Reading Calendars and Book orders due.  Book orders will be sent out promptly at 3:20pm.  If you lost your book order, you can shop online using my blog link.  If it happens to be a Christmas present, shoot me an email and I won't hand it to your student. ;)

Thursday, December 10th - Canned Food Drive Doughnut Party.  Our class won the Food Drive by 5 cans!  As a reward, student council is throwing us a doughnut party.

Friday, December 11th - No School

Wednesday, December 16th - Zoo Projects due and Zoo Walk Through Day.  More info below.

Thursday, December 17th - Ugly Christmas Sweater Day and Christmas Music Program.  Students may wear a school appropriate ugly Christmas sweater to school.  More info will be sent next week.  The Christmas music program will be at 6pm at the Nampa 1st Church of the Nazarene on the corner of 16th ave and 7th St.

Friday, December 18th - Christmas Auction and Hot Cocoa Bar and Star Wars Dress up.  Your students have been saving their class cash for this big event.  I also am looking for hot cocoa items to be donated.  Click the list below if you are interested in donating.

All you need to know about the Zoo Project:

1.  Pre-measured grid papers came home on Friday.  There should be four.  Glue them in a rectangle shape on a foam/ cut-able board to fit your students desk. This is a must!   I have 30 projects that have to fit in my room.  :)

2.  Your student already has an approved final draft of a 2-D zoo in which to build from.  Their job is to now make a 2-D zoo into a 3-D zoo.  Since we were only working with area and perimeter, height is not a concern.  For example, if one of the animal cages on the final draft is a 6 x 9 rectangle, it should appear the same way in the 3-D version.  The difference is, the 3-D version now has walls that go up.  Just make it visually appealing.

3.  Use what you have at home to build before you go buy.  I would prefer to see recycled materials. I have had students use edible materials as well. Students may also build their zoo virtually using programs like Minecraft, Google Sketch and even CAD.  Your imagination is your only limit.

3.  The class will host an open house on Wednesday, December 16th from 8:30am - 10am. Parents, family and friends are invited to walk through all the Zoos.
