For the week of December 8th - 12th

Zoo Project 3-D Expectations
I am sure you have heard about our Zoo Project.  We have been designing 2-D blue prints, measuring perimeter and area, discussing design elements and more in class!  The 3-D model will be due Friday, December 19th.  We will be having an open house that morning and parents will be welcome to drop by and view all the zoos. If you cannot make it, I will be taking tons of pictures and posting them to the blog.  :)

Project Expectations:
1.  The project must be a very close representation of the 2-D blue prints.
2.  The project must fit on the students desk.  (I will take exact measurements on Monday)
3.  The project must be labeled.
4.  The project is due Friday, Dec 19th at 8:05 am.
5.  The project must be 3 dimensional, with the exception of those wanting to build their zoo in Minecraft.  For those students, you must either bring in your own device to  show the class or create a Prezi or Powerpoint which can be played on your student Chrome Book.
6.   Creativity is encouraged.  You don't need to go buy anything fancy.  You can use what you have around the house, it can even be made out of old Halloween candy if you so choose.  The main point of the 3-D project is to take the 2-D blue prints and be able to manipulate them, as well as convert the image into a 3-dimensional world.  These are real-world math applications.

Service Project - Week 2
Last week's letter to a Soldier was amazing.  I loved to read the compassion and the sympathy our students have towards those who serve our country and cannot come home to be with their families.  This week we will be making Christmas cards for the elderly in the nursing homes.

Christmas Party
Our Christmas party will take place on Friday, December 19th.  The first part of the party will consist of a Hot Cocoa bar.  Students will be able to make a chocolate creation with toppings like whip cream, marshmallows, sprinkles and more!  The second part of the party will consist of our class auction.  Your student has been earning class cash all semester to spend at this big event and I have been shopping for several weeks to pick up presents they will want to have!
